Abstract
This study compared hospitals administrators' expectation for staff nurses and nursing educators' expectation for nursing students by analyzing their clinical evaluation tools.
Forth-nine hospitals and 39 nursing colleges(consisted of 11 Baccalaureate, 28 diploma programs) were studied. The lists of nursing behaviors were categorized into six role categories revised by researchers, originated WICHE, Professional
activites,
caregiver, manager, communicator, investigator, teacher.
The frequencies of 6 categories yielded that the hospital administrators' expectation for the staff nurses focused on professional activities first, then caregiver, manager, communicator, investigator, and teacher inorder. On the other hand,
nursing
educators focused on the role of caregiver first, then professional activities, manager, communicator, teacher, and investigator in order.
Conclusively, on the basis of the categorizing pross and its results of this study, it is suggested that we open our communication channel for standardized clinical evaluatin tools between hospital adeministrators and nursing educators.
